Editing

I have worked as an editor since 2014. I provide strategic consultation on editorial projects, sensitivity reading, fact checking, copy editing, substantive edits, and rewrites.

I have experience editing a range of materials including cookbooks and personal essays. I have deeply appreciated the opportunities that I have had to provide mentorship and editorial support to emerging writers.

I currently specialize in equity seeking work related to race, harm reduction, drug policy, mental health, and homelessness.

Examples of recent editing work

  • Pivot Legal Society’s Project Inclusion (2018), a comprehensive study into the ways in which specific laws and policies in policing, health care, and the court system directly undermine the health and safety of people who are homeless and living with substance use issues by trapping them in a cycle of criminalization.
  • Providing strategic consultation as a sensitivity reader for early manuscript drafts of books such as Sarah Leavitt’s Agnes, Murderess (2019); Andrea Warner’s Buffy Sainte-Marie: The Authorized Biography (2018); Travis Lupick’s Fighting for Space: How A Group of Drug Users Transformed One City’s Struggle with Addiction (2018), and other work in development.
